Fireproof Filing Cabinets

Fireproof filing cabinets are cabinets designed to protect their contents from fire damage. They offer the functionality of a regular filing cabinet for organizing documents and files but with the added benefit of fire resistance.

Fireproof filing cabinets are typically made from strong, fire-resistant materials like steel with fire-resistant insulation inside. This insulation can be a proprietary material or something like gypsum board (drywall).

These cabinets are rated to withstand specific fire temperatures for a set time duration. Common ratings are 1 hour or 2 hours, meaning the internal temperature won't exceed a certain level (usually 125C) for that amount of time during a fire.

Fireproof filing cabinets come in various configurations, similar to regular filing cabinets. You can find them in vertical or lateral styles to accommodate letter, legal, or even hanging file folders.

While fire protection is the primary function, some cabinets may have locks to offer basic theft deterrence. For high-security needs, a dedicated safe might be a better option.
