The fall is fast approaching and it brings moderate weather, falling leaves, and the sounds of marching bands echoing throughout all the towns across the country on Friday nights; signaling the start of football season. Before football season can get here though, we will endure back to school sales collecting all the required supplies for the school year. Restocking all those empty cupboards from the previous year. The annual fall renewal is upon us, we know every supply list item from number two pencils to three ring binders. All the items that will make our children successful in the upcoming school year. But what if it’s time for a renewal at home too?

More and more children are being homeschooled. Even before the outbreak of the Covid-19 Pandemic, parents all across the country were bringing their children to classrooms in the home instead of traditional schooling. Now that a school year is behind us where all children stayed home, we are more educated on what to expect, what is needed, and how to improve. One of the ways that may be overlooked is a new computer desk for the home office. A place for our children to study at an efficient desk. We know for sure that it is a better option than allowing them to pile up on the couch in front of the television with laptop before them. If you haven’t found a better solution beyond the kitchen table then here are five excellent desk options for the start of the school year in the fall of 2021.

Modern L shaped desk with side storage

This is a great minimalist option that will not take up much space at all. The L shape provides a secondary tabletop to either multitask or set two children together. The side storage is an ingenious way to keep all the school supply clutter locked away in an organized fashion. This Bridge series desk by Harmony Collection has a laminate desktop that is extremely stain and scratch resistant and comes in five finish options. Overall, this is a great homeschool desk or perhaps a homework desk. This computer desk will also serve well as a home office desk or even a gaming desk for those gamers out there.

Modern office credenza desk with hutch and storage cabinet

Another Harmony Collection desk this one is from the popular PL Laminate series of desks. This credenza desk is a great homeschool desk as it has a large amount of storage to store away everything that comes with a classroom in the home. It is made from commercial grade laminate that will stand up to the daily use to come, backed by a five years manufacturer’s warranty. The desk will tuck away against nearly any wall as an almost completely tucked away piece of home office furniture. The credenza style desk is a smaller desk that fits perfectly with a laptop or small desktop computer.

Double pedestal desk

The traditional pedestal desk is an ever popular home office desk option for many reasons. One of them is that it functions well and doesn’t look like a child’s desk. This desk could have a child doing school work at it all day, then be cleaned off for a professional looking desk for a home meeting in the evening. This Cherryman desk from the Amber collection is also made with a durable melamine surface and includes a ten year manufacturer’s warranty. This homework desk is versatile as it has several size and pedestal drawer options to choose from.

U shaped desk with glass modesty panel and hutch

Sometimes even in the home the job needs a little more muscle. This desk is what you would get if you took a regular home school desk and put it on a harsh steroid supplement for six months. It is massive, and will take up the entirety of most rooms but for every ten regular sized office desks sold for homework, there is that one that just needs more. More work areas- three of them with the main desk, the credenza desk in the back and the bridge between them. Storage? Yes, it has storage in a hutch and pedestals, is it enough? Most would say more than...The glass modesty panel offers a bit of style to the desk. Now I’m sure that many of us cannot see our second graders working at a desk like this but a many of high schoolers and college students could burn the midnight oil on a big project with a home office desk like this. Corp Design’s Potenza series U shaped desk with hutch comes in five finishes to choose from.

Hand Crank Sit Stand Desk

This sit stand home office desk is a bit different. It looks like a cafeteria table at first glance. It doesn’t even look like a desk, a table sure homework can be done there but what makes this desk special? It can transition from sitting to standing with a few cranks. For many of people one of the hardest parts of homeschooling during the pandemic was watching our children always sitting down. This desk looks to alleviate that problem by providing a desktop to work from even when standing up. It may be a small matter to most, but those with kids today know that small victories in their children’s lives can have lasting effect. So why not a desk that can be raised or lowered to fit the current need of the user? This ESI hand crank sit stand computer desk comes with six finish options.

There we have it. As another school year quickly approaches, we can be sure to look into a new home office desk for our students whether they be in first grade or a senior in college. New desk brings new opportunities with it. These five desks highlighted can also be used for professional endeavors by the adults of the home. Finding a versatile home office desk is a great tool to have for everyone from kindergarten all the way to retirement and beyond. As this new school year begins, put all the tools in front of our students and see them flourish.
